North Shore Conditions 🟒

Location Rating Visibility Wind Speed Waves Currents
Ke’e Beach 8.5 🟒 Good E 10-15 mph 0-2 ft Flat Low
Haena State Park 8.5 🟒 Good E 10-15 mph 0-2 ft Flat Low
Hideaways 8.0 🟒 Good E 10-15 mph 0-2 ft Flat Low
Anini Beach 8.5 🟒 Good E 10-15 mph 0-1 ft Flat Low Inside

Description: Excellent summer protections remain firmly intact across the North Shore rock corridors. Background northerly wave fields are completely non-existent, leaving nearshore entries exceptionally flat. Moderate easterly trades at 10–15 mph provide a steady offshore wind block that flattens nearshore surfaces and keeps reef sand columns settled for beautiful clarity inside the protective barrier pools.

East Shore Conditions 🟑

Location Rating Visibility Wind Speed Waves Currents
Lydgate Park 6.0 🟑 Fair/Good E 10-15 mph 2-4 ft Easing Chop Low Inside

Description: Marginal: Localized easterly trade wind trends have backing velocity profiles today, allowing rough windward chop to ease down into a minor 2–4 foot spectrum. Passing showers are introducing fewer stream sediment layers, allowing outer reef clarity parameters to trend upward. The solid stone barrier walls at Lydgate hold the inner swimming pool stable and safely detached from open water tracking.

South Shore Conditions 🟑

Location Rating Visibility Wind Speed Waves Currents
Poipu Beach Park 6.5 🟑 Fair/Good E 10-15 mph 1-3 ft Easing Surge Light Inside
Beach House 6.0 🟑 Fair/Good E 10-15 mph 1-3 ft Easing Surge Moderate Surge

Description: Marginal: The long-period southwest swell is steadily losing intensity today, bringing waves along the southern coastline down to a milder 1–3 foot range. Residual subsurface energy continues to clear fine suspended sand particles out of the shallow reef zones, leaving visibility fair but steadily recovering.

KEY LEGEND

  • 🟒 (7.0-10.0) Good: Safe, clear water, low surge.
  • 🟑 Marginal: (4.0-6.5) Fair visibility, light surge. Use caution.
  • πŸ”΄ (0.0-3.5) Dangerous: High surf, strong currents, or turbid conditions. Avoid.

BEST TIME TO GO: Morning window (9:00 AM to 12:30 PM) to secure flat surface frames inside the deep volcanic cuts of the North Shore (Anini or Ke’e) before trade wind velocities create outer texture. South entries are notably cleaner as swell systems downcycle, but keep an eye out for minor sand haze.

MARINE ADVISORIES: The long-period southwest swell will continue its gradual decline through midweek, keeping south shore breaking wave heights at a manageable 1 to 3 feet today. Small Craft Advisories for coastal channels have expired as trade wind structures drop into a gentle 10 to 15 mph tier island-wide. Higher than normal tides (King Tides) will generate minor coastal wash along low-lying paths during afternoon peak hours. Midday UV index fields are extreme.

Ocean conditions can change rapidly.Β  Watch the surf, waves, currents and surge on the shoreline, rocks and reefs. Always spend 5-10 minutes in snorkel meditation watching the conditions.Β  Savor the moment.Β  If the water doesn’t look clear, calm and inviting, don’t go in!
