Surf & Kayak | Big Island
Adventures in Paradise, Kona
AP’s Kealakekua Kayak & Snorkel provides rare access to Captain Cook Monument & some of the best snorkeling west of the Fertile Crescent. The AM & PM adventures go 3-1/2 hours, with dolphins most frequently sighted on the AM trip before porpoises go into sleep mode for the day. Swimming with dolphins or touching them isn’t permitted, but oh, what a sight to see. The trip begins at Kealakekua boat ramp, with 1-3/4 miles of moderate kayaking past lava flows, a Ka’awaloa Bay landing and short hike to Captain Cook Monument, then snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay marine preserve. Kealakekua is one of my, SB’s, most favorite places to snorkel with prolific fish traffic and coral cover. 2-man kayaks, life vests, snax, beverages, instruction & snorkel gear included. I, SB, recommend taking your custom-fit Snorkel Bob gear on-board. Must be 5 years or older pending ability, and 250 lbs. or under due to canoe seats and maximum ladder weight.
